Yes, there was a door in the tree. Not only that, but it was
apparently made of pure silver! A door in a tree, especially a silver one,
was an odd thing to find, but not as odd as some of the things Fred had
encountered before. Two things suddenly occurred to Fred. For one thing, his age difference with Astra wouldn't be all that much of a problem. In noble marriages, it was not all that uncommon for there to be a fairly large age difference. Secondly, he did know how he got here. He'd entered a strange room inside a volcano and--fallen through a trap door? [8451, 15282, 3980] If he'd fallen through a trap door in a cave, why was he above ground? "Wonder what's behind that door?" Fred said. "Maybe this leads back to the Dragon's caves," said Astra. "But there's somehow something menacing about that door." "I feel that way too," said Fred. "Should we open it or not?"
