The latter part of this scene had taken part in what Stacy assumed was most probably Chris's office in the new building; they had reached it some time ago after walking over from the old building. [12862] Now there was a knock on the office door and, before Chris or the duplicate "Stacy" could do anything, a man walked in.

Stacy was facing the door, and the man saw her first. "Hello, Stacy," he said. "Is Chris anywhere about? I need to get her to sign a form." Then he saw the other two, Chris (holding a gun) and Stacy's double, and his eyes opened wide.

  1. "Damn!" said Chris. She fired the stun gun at the newcomer and, as he fell, turned back to fire at Stacy.
  2. Stacy took advantage of the distraction.
