Dr. Burke Saves the Day

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 14815

Burke opened up an access panel and quickly inserted his gizmo into some sort of slot. Abruptly, the alarm cut off, and the readouts on the display panels reset themselves to a pattern Stacy's implanted memories recognized as normal. The ship was headed for Earth orbit, just as it was supposed to.

Stacy turned to Burke with undisguised appreciation. "You did it!"

"Of course I did," he said, sounding a bit annoyed that Stacy could have doubted him. "Now, would one of you two mind telling me what's going on?"

"I think you're about to see for yourself in a minute," said Paula. "Look!"

Indeed, through the porthole the other alien ship was visible, apparently coming in to dock with them...

Which it in fact proceeded to do.
But just then there was a shower of sparks from behind the access panel and the alarm came back on.
