Calling Belboz

Before long, the royal couple (the king haven taken time to fully redress), Joan and Ecstasy stood about a glowing column of light in Uxton's chambers. Every now and then, one of them would cast a wary glance out the window at the fading sun, still high in the morning sky, but now glowing a dimmed ruddy red. The sounds of wailing and screams could also be heard from the frightened populace.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, the form of the necromancer appeared inthe beam of light. "Hello? Who summons me?"

"Greetings, Belboz - it is I, Uxton."

"Oh, Uxton. Hello again. How's old King Embron? Still stiff as a..."

"Old King Embron is fine for the moment, mage!" the king snapped.

"Your highness. An unexpected surprise. Knowing how you feel about me, there must be some dire emergency threatening the Allaria."

"It's the only bloody reason I'd call you, you old..."

"Embron!" Jastina interjected. Apparently, time had done little to heal this particular grudge. "Later for this! Time is running out!"

Reluctantly, Embron explained the situation - Joan's appearance, the sudden animation of the Spirit of Ecstasy, the hidden portion of the prophecy, the sudden dimming of the sun, and Ecstasy's suspicion of the Sundeath spell.

"As you can see, the kingdom is in danger of the worst kind" Embron concluded. His earlier resentment of Belboz had given way entirely to an almost palpable fear. "We desperately need your help, Belboz. Uxton is just not up to this sort of thing, and this is much bigger than any issues we may have between us. Please - return to us."

Belboz considered the king's plea for a moment, then nodded. "I agree - my aide is desperately needed. There is one thing, though":

1. "Joan and Ecstasy must depart at once for Arthema's camp and find out who their mage is."
2. "The sun where I am is not affected at all."
3. "The answer to this lies in Zerrod's journals. Find them for me."
4. "When we are through, I intend to take you up on your old challenge for the Queen's hand."
5. Suddenly, a sword point appeared at Belboz's throat. "It seems the Amazons have already captured me."
