Darkness Ascending

"Is it an eclipse?" asked the Queen.

"I don't think so," Joan replied, pointing up into the sky. What they saw chilled them to the bone.

The sun was not under eclipse - rather, it seemed as if it was going out. The bright yellow disk had faded to a dull orange, and seemed on the verge of winking out all together.

"Great heavens!" Embron gasped, clutching the bedsheet tightly about himself. "What are they doing?!"

"Sundeath!" Ecstasy whispered. "It's a spell that will drain the sun's power! I - I remember hearing Zerrod mention it, but I never knew what it meant! But this is it - I know it!"

For a moment, none of them said anything. Finally, though, a voice was raisedL

1. Jastina said, "Embron, I know you despise him - but we *must* contact Belboz for assistance!"
2. "To arms!" Embron shouted. "My army and I can handle this - we are warriors trained and true!"
3. "It looks like it's up to us," said Joan. "Ecstasy, let's fly over to Arthema's camp and put a stop to this!"
4. Ecstasy announced. "Now I know why I'm here. I'm the only way we have to rekindle the sun!"
5. A voice came from outside the room. "They're in there - all four of them! Seize them quickly!"
