Queen Jastina, Poetry Critic

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 13780

"The last line is rather weaker than the rest," Jastina observed. "And what's that about 'Darkness springs from noontime day'?" "It sounds like it might be foretelling an eclipse," Embron observed. "I've never believed eclipses to be portents of doom, but if we were to have one in the immediate future then that would certainly be impressive, and would incline me to believe the rest of it."

"Maybe the Darkness is merely metaphorical, and refers to Arthema's army?" Joan suggested. "Surely the fact that I am now flesh and blood is all the proof that anybody could need?" Ecstasy said with uncharacteristic asperity. "I suppose so," Embron conceded. "And according to legend, it was Zerrod who had you sculpted, which would tie in. He must have somehow infused you with some delayed action spell to bring you to life when the time was right." "I'd have thought that a fulfilment of prophecy could find something better to do on being brought to life than bedding the King," Jastina muttered, but the others pretended not to hear her.

"Are those wings just for show, or can you really fly?" Embron asked Ecstasy. "Well, I haven't tried to fly yet, but I'm sure that I can." "In that case, perhaps you wouldn't mind going aloft and seeing whether there is any sign of Arthema's army approaching?"

  1. "Of course," Ecstasy said.
  2. "I'd be glad to, but it seems to be getting rather dark outside." And Ecstasy pointed at the window.
  3. An arrow flew through the window, narrowly missing Embron's head. "It looks like her army may already be at your gates," Ecstasy said.
