Strangers in a VERY strange land

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 13744

Two forms stumble out of a glowing magical portal, transformed....

The portal closes.

The young girl Fred was now in the body of the young girl Belboz and vice versa. (re: 13741)

"Where are we?" Fred asks herself, only to do a double take when she gets a glance at a body she'd only started getting used to here.

Glancing down at herself, she points at herself and then over at Belboz (who's now noticing the changes herself).

"Oh great," Belboz she sighs. "Not only did Elaine somehow cut me off from my source of magical powers but he displaces my very SOUL into a body who has never had a touch of the power in the first place? What NEXT?!"

No answers were forthcoming from anyone in this rather odd, brightly lit hallway.

Frankly, this place was slightly disturbing for some reason. Oh, it was clean and tidy enough, but what was the source of light for this place, exactly? Oh, they could both tell readily that it came from above, but from long white glowing strips of glass quiet not like anything they'd ever seen before (even Belboz, who was rather conversant in the ways of magery).

"Well, whatever this place is I do suggest we at least try to blend in and not draw attention to ourselves," Fred sighs. "Get the lay of the land and then try to come up with some course of action! Unless, of course, you have some other prophecy or some brilliant stragety on how to get out of THIS mess?"

Of course, the last is said with more than a little bit of disdain from Fred (who's still rather angered at Belboz, upon life itself, for having sprung this all upon him). That of course earns him . . .er . . . her a frosty glare from Belboz, but . . .

"It would seem, sir knight, that I do not," she says softly, seeing no gains at splitting up with this infuriating knight turned girl. Honestly, if she was honest with herself she probably would be mad at her, herself.

Actually, she WAS angry with herself for having been so neatly duped, and Fred wasn't helping matters. "Well, let us see what there is to see and by all means let us not 'stand out' if we can," the former necromancer turned young girl. "Do believe I hear the sounds of at least someone or something coming from that direction."

She gestures down the hallway to the right. The sounds of . . .tapping and and soft beeping can be heard down the way and around the corner.

Not wishing to jump right into something that might prove . . . awkward at best (and lethal at worst), our displaced girls quietly slink down the hallway and peek around the corner.

Down the hallway they see that the lighting style has changed (mysterious light coming from white, glassy covered domes in the ceiling that). Absently Fred has to wonder just HOW magical this place seems. Much more so than her Allaria if they spend the gold to have wizards cast light spells to light up a room or hallway this way. Surely it cannot be torchlight or even gaslamps up in those domes. Not only would the smoke given OFF by those sources interfere with the arrangement, there is not the usual flickering one associates with that form of lighting . . .

That aside it is odd, the view they get from where they peek. From across the way they see what they know could only be sleeping infants, sleeping under some kind of soft pinkish red light. That seems to say to the girls that this is some kind of nursery . . . and perhaps the father of at least one of the young tykes here is paying a visit?

A young blonde man dressed in so some kind of black and gray trousers and tunic is tapping on a strange window.

"Wake up," he says softly, clearly trying to get the attention of- -if the displays down his way are like the ones up the hallway where the girls are hiding out-- at least one child within the window display he's tapping upon.

  1. The man then pauses in bemusement as he hears . . . a clomp or three from a set of horseshoes back down the way the girls had come from . . .
