Taking the younger girl to one side, Miranda asked her what she thought of Jarath.

"Not bad" she replied "but a bit shy"

"No problem" Miranda whispered.

"Jarath, come over here" she called "How would you like to take Julia out"

The youth looked neverous and replied "Well, OK, but how about we make it a double date, and you come along with Lord Gregory"

1. Miranda declined as she thought Gregory was a twit
2. She didn;t really like Gregory, but wanted to help things along so accepted
3. Miranda's heart skipped a beat at the mere mention of his name, for Lord Gregory was the man to whom she had been promised many years ago and who she adored more than life itself.
4. "Miranda" suddenly realizes something is wrong.
