Following the odd footprints, which resembled nothing as much as the cloven hoof prints of a two-legged goat, Frieda criss-crossed through the forest until she found a second set of tracks crossing the first. After thoroughly examining the two spoors she chose what seemed to be the newest of the two, and continued her search for the unknown wanderer.
After the sequence had repeated a few times, she realized that the tracks were all the same size, and rather than following different people she was tracking the same person who had passed through the area several times. She must be getting close to the person's... She barely had time to think "home" before a new sensation entered her little slice of the world and made her stop dead in her tracks. It was the smell of burning wood, and something else... something kind of... herbal. She moved cautiously towards the next turn in the path, and stopped again as she caught sight of a rock wall with a door and a couple of windows in it. It did not exactly look like the home of an evil overlord, but she still hesitated. Suddenly the door opened and a person came out. Looking at his feet Frieda realized she had found the source of the mysterious tracks she had been following. Taking in the rest of the barely humanoid figure, she figured this had to be what they called a faun of old. The faun was carrying a teapot in his hands, and a few paces from the door he stopped to upend it. A few vigorous shakes later Frieda was surprised to see a sleepy dormouse fall out of the teapot and amble off into the forest.
The faun turned to look at Frieda, then with a sideway glance at a tree stump that had been carved into the semblance of a sundial, he said:
