Tetrilonia City Limits

After a while, their spirits revived. They couldn't feel the strange, menacing aura of the air anymore. They were able to converse normally, and didn't feel any more uneasiness then they normally would in the Dragon's caves.

Then, they came to the door.

They had reached a dead end. The path had ended. A monseterous rock wall loomed menacingly above them. The only way through was a golden door with ornate designs carved on it.

Jarlath examined the gate cautiously. "Hmmm," he said. "It seems to be a perfectly normal door, except..."

"Except what?" Fred asked.

"Except it's in too good condition," said Jarlath. "It's very shiny. It's almost as if someone has been polisihing it."

"But there doesn't exactly seem to be anyone here who would polish it, is there?" said Astra. "There hasn't been anyone here except us, and there aren't any signs of recent activity here, either." The feeling of uneasiness seemed to have taken hold of everyone again.

"I think it's a trap," said Frederigo. "Anyone or anything waiting for us on the other side of that door would have a pretty easy shot at us."

"Well, we don't have much choice," said Astra. Reluctantly, the three companions went through the door.

And saw an amazing sight.

They were in the open air now, outside of the Dragon's caves. Behind them was a large mountain. There was no sign of any door. In front of them was a road. In the distance, they saw a great city. Looming above that city were several towers that seemed to be made of pure gold. The sun reflected off them in blinding light.

"Oh, my God," said Fred and Astra, awed.

Jarlath seemed even more awed. "Fred, Astra, do you realize what this city is?"

"No," said Fred.

" '...and in the ancient days, before the fall of the Empire, it was the greatest city on Earth, with great towers of burnished gold...' This is the capital city of Tetrilonia, as it was before the Tetrilonian Empire fell."
