Too Much to Be Coincidence

The woman's face reflected a mix of sympathy and surprise. "Yes. She was hit by a subway car a couple of days ago." She shivered. "Horrible thing. The doctors don't think she'll ever come out of the coma."

Stacy considered this, her mind racing rabidly. Three people "known OK": Jerry, Tina and herself. Two cases of amnesia and one terrible "accident." Somehow, this seemed like too much to be coincidence. Let's see, what else had the note said? Bob and Mandy "known." Known what? And what about the other people on the list?

Stacy decided to try something else. "And... Chris?" she said.

1. "Yes?" the woman replied, as if expecting Stacy to go on. Apparently "Chris" was her name.
2. "What about Chris?" She appeared puzzled.
3. "I don't know what's up with Chris," she said. "He's been acting kind of weird lately..."
