"Oh, geez," Ragan muttered to herself. Ever since she'd started this
extend-a-story stuff, she'd had more weirdos showing up in her life: women
with amnesia, Time Lords, Mulder and Scully, and now this guy. She
wondered, briefly, if maybe he weren't something pleasantly explicable,
like, oh, somebody who'd just come from an SCA event, broke into her house,
and passed out on her floor after drinking that one wine cooler in her
fridge. Somehow, she doubted it. Most likely, this guy really was Lord
Fred, and her life was about to get interesting again. Suddenly, it occured to her to check if he was still breathing. He was. Well, that was something, anyway. A live medieval fantasy character was at least preferable to a dead one, she supposed. One of the cats came over, sniffed at the unconscious man's face, and meowed up at her inquiringly. "Don't look at me," she said.
