Fred made quite an attractive woman, Astra - as one would expect - became
a tall
handsome man, and Alex - now dropping the "is" from the end of his name
again - was
naturally by far the happiest of the four.
"Why did you say this was the work of Zerm?" Fred asked Astra, in her attractively husky voice. "Surely we are far beyond his reach here. In any case, how could he know we would pass this way and eat the fruit?" "You do not realise just how powerful he is," Astra said in her gruff tones. "Don't forget that he banished Alex and me to the vicinity of the island where you were marooned - and I dare say he was also responsible for your being there. I'm sure he could easily have arranged things so that we would come here, and once we did it was inevitable that we would sample the fruit."
