Not the Best of Beginnings

Damn! Frederika thinks. Only a few hours into my quest, and
through my
own carelessness I've already lost my horse. Not a good start. This
doesn't look like the best of
places to be alone and on foot, either. The forest this path passes
through is dark
and forbidding, and might
conceal almost anything.
Frederika starts walking along the path in the direction in which she had been heading before her accident. If she is really lucky, she thinks, she might catch up with her horse. It must have fled along the path in one direction or the other, since the woodland is too dense to allow it passage. She hopes that she can get clear of the forest before dusk falls, since the woodland path would not be a good place to spend the night.
