Getting the Hell Out of Dodge

The number of inexplicable or amazing things which they had seen and heard in the last 24 hours was uncomfortably large. They had escaped from some sort of dungeon, but it had been unlike any they had ever been imprisoned in before, having altogether more steel bars, smooth concrete, and relatively comfortable beds than they were used to. The guards there had also been unusual. They were remarkably out of shape and unskilled at combat, but seemed to make up for it with dangerous weapons called guns, which Fred and Astra had quickly learned were to be avoided whenever possible.

At Madam Fifi's the conversation had switched to such absurdities as "Star Trek" and "mug shots", and they had been graced with new luxuries; the devices called "toilets" were especially fascinating. Astra had been clothed in slacks and a tee-shirt, which Fred thought looked exceptionally good on her.

With so much new information to process, they were glad to hear Madam Fifi's suggestion that they leave this place called New York. Bugsy explained the plan to them.

1. We'll drive to my sister's place in Toronto.
2. We'll disguise ourselves and catch a plane to Rio.
3. We'll live out the rest of our days in a small hole in the ground in Jersey.
