Perfect.
My first day in America, I get shot at even before the captain has turned off the seat belt sign. I have to dive out of a plane just to save my worthless life, which really makes it a hassle to find my luggage. I finally get to sit down to enjoy a decent bagel, and of course, Donel joins me for a bite. Next thing I know, my name is in his book. Perfect. It's not been a good day. And of course, I can't get a cab. That's fine. Saves me some cash. I can walk. The bullet wound is healing faster than you would expect, as usual. I need to get my head together. Edgar turned down streets at random, not going anyplace in particular, just trying to stay away from crowds. He needed a place to change some cash, and a roof and four walls for the night. The rest could wait until tomorrow. He ducked into a bank just as it was about to close, and exchanged the rest of his pounds for dollars. Not as much as he'd like, but it would do. He didn't know why the Name Taker had decided to pay him a visit, or what he'd done to get into the book. One possibility was that he had been meant to die on the plane, either shot by the woman in white or killed in the panic that followed. If that was the case, Donel had been quick, even for a Seraf. More likely, he just wasn't wanted in New York. But he wasn't going to be dissuaded that easily. He had waited too long, worked too hard. Now, finally, he was close. His father was here, in New York. He had to be. And if precedent counted for anything, he was up to no good. Edgar kept walking. It started to rain. Perfect.
