Blame It on the Rani

"The Rani?!" both Bettys echoed him.

"Er, who's the Rani?" asked Stacy.

"The Rani is an evil Time Lord..." the Doctor began.

"Dear God, another one?" Stacy replied despairingly.

"Yes. An expert in the biological sciences. And like the Master, totally amoral."

"Come to think of it," said Betty-1, "this does somehow seem like the sort of thing she'd be involved with."

"Sort of seems like her sense of humor, too," added her counterpart.

"So, you have a reason to think this Rani is involved?" Melissa asked the Master.

The newly-regenerated Time Lord winced slightly. "We did have an... encounter... shortly before I began my work on the VLA," she admitted.

"And I take it you didn't exactly part friends?" said the Doctor wryly.

"You could say that, Doctor, yes."

1. "So very clever of you to have figured that out," came a female voice from behind them.
2. Suddenly, the Master winced, as if in pain.
3. There was the sound of a TARDIS materializing.
