Belinda's Story, Part 3

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 12390

I turned around and saw approaching me a man in a black cloak. The light was too poor to see his face very well, except that his eyes seemed to reflect the moonlight in the most remarkable way, so that they were like two silver orbs.

When he was about five yards away he spoke. His voice was soft but deep, and had an oddly compelling quality to it. "Touch the monolith," he said. "Huh?" I said, thinking that this was a very strange request. "I said touch the monolith," he repeated. "Now!" And he drew his sword. I only had a dagger at my belt, so I didn't have much choice but to comply, wondering whether he intended to rob me - or worse.

The instant my fingers came in contact with the stone, there was a blinding flash of light. When my eyes had recovered:

  1. I found that I was elsewhere, with no sign of either the monolith or of the man.
