The shelf didn't open into a passageway of the kind Fred had heard of in some old stories, but
rather to another shelf that was equally packed with books. Fred couldn't help but feel a bit of
awe as well as fear at seeing such a large amount of books, as books were rare in his kingdom.
He himself couldn't write and could only barely read. The room was full of the smell of old
parchment as well as the sharp tang that clung to books of sorcery. There were words written on
the spines of some of the books. The letters were sharp and alien, and didn't look at all like
Allarian. "Can you read any of this?" he asked.
Astra scrutinized the books carefully. "They do not seem to be written in any language I'm familiar with. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be anything in this room of any use to us." "Do you think this is the dragon's doing? It seems to small for him, but I have heard it said that powerful dragon mages can sometimes take human form, and for this one to have turned Velus into a dog he must be one." "I suspect it is," said Astra. "When the dragon came to torment me he took human form." "Then I say we burn it down," said Fred. "Surely this contains some spell books that the dragon might make use of." "But this room might be booby-trapped," said Astra. "It's strange that this room seems so poorly guarded, doesn't it? I like it less and less every moment. We should leave."
