When four hours had gone by, Stacy decided that she could wait no longer.
She memorised
the map of the subway tunnels as best she could. Then she slipped
out of the TARDIS, leaving its door slightly ajar so that she could re-
enter it if
need be (she hadn't been able to find a key).
She walked the two miles to the street that was shown on the map as being immediately above the disused subway tunnel. The area seemed to be totally deserted. No doubt as a result of the events at the bookshop, [10281] people were keeping off the streets, she thought. But where were the police and army? Perhaps the TARDIS lay within an area that had been cordoned off and temporarily conceded to the daleks? Arriving at the correct street, she started to look for a way down to the subway.
