Who Goes There?

"You first," Greenbeard shouted back. He was close enough to the shore by now for Astra to see that his beard really was green, even though the hair on the top of his head was a boring brown. Surely the green coloration couldn't be natural? As he swam even nearer, she saw that the green had brown streaks in it. He must have dyed it and the seawater had washed away some of the dye. Why on earth would anyone dye their hair green?

Meanwhile Fred had replied to the captain: "I am Lord Frederigo D'Honaire of Allaria, the two ladies are the princesses Astra and Alura from Aqualaria, and the dog-boy is Velus - I've never bothered to find out where he's from."

"It might not have been a good idea to tell him that we are princesses and that you are a lord," Alura whispered to him.

By now Greenbeard was striding up the beach, his men (and Bobbie Rae Fischer) close behind him. "I am Captain Greenbeard and this lot are my crew. So if you are nobility you must all be very wealthy, apart from the dog-boy," he said.

"We might be rich back home," Astra said, "but stranded here on this island all we have is the rags we stand up in."

1. The captain believes her.
2. The captain doesn't believe her. He's sure they must have some valuables hidden away somewhere.
3. "But your families would pay a large ransom for your safe return." "How exactly do you propose to contact them?" Alura asks.
4. The captain leers at Astra and tells her that he's always had a thing for pregnant women.
