Fred and Astra knew that storming the tower was not
a practical proposition for the two of them, especially as neither had a
weapon. They vowed
that, when they could,
they would
return with reinforcements and overthrow whatever evil dwelt in the tower.
Since they were probably a very long way
from home, that day unfortunately might have to be far in the future.
They attempted to sneak past the tower to escape from the valley, making use of whatever cover they could find. A full moon had risen as the sun had set, which was a two-edged sword: it meant that they could find their way with less risk of breaking their necks, but when from time to time they had to leave the shadows that the moon cast they would be easily seen should anyone chance to be looking out from the tower.
