False Alarm

She decided to open Johnson's briefcase and see what she could find inside. After all, she was the boss now, so it would be at worst embarrassing if she was caught. OK, technically she wasn't Johnson's boss, since he was Marks' attorney, but even so... She did take the precaution of getting up and closing the conference room door first, though. Hopefully anyone who wanted to come inside would knock first, giving her time to put back anything that she had taken from the briefcase.

Inside the briefcase she found the contracts and other important documents that she had signed.

1. Everything seemed to be in order, but not as informative about her own life as she had hoped.
2. She learned a lot.
3. She found that she had signed one document whose contents were very disturbing.
4. She also found a copy of a briefing document intended to tell Marks all about herself, the woman he would be dealing with. It was now very helpful in fulfilling the same function for Stacy herself.
5. She had only just started reading when someone burst in without knocking.
