It didn't seem to make sense - she'd always been small, even for a goblin, but suddenly that was no longer the case. Outwards made sense, sure, with all her gathering stretch marks, her belly left bigger after each pregnancy, but she was growing in every dimension. And another strange thing was that each pregnancy seemed to get shorter and shorter. Four months was normal, but her second child was three and a half, and then three, and then thirteen weeks, and then twelve, and they always came out, impossibly, full-term... until it seemed to even out at a nice ten, by which point Vulbi was fully twice the size of an ordinary goblin, and had a difficult time moving. She spent most of her time sitting in the nursery, nursing children or sleeping. She was very scared, but what could she do? This was what had been ordered by Gorbukin. Surely it was by his design. The other goblins treated her with a sort of reverence, doing most of the work of raising her children for her - her children, who, incidentally, grew quite fast, able to contribute to the clan by hunting and patrolling by the time they were one. Finally, she and Horgu realized what was happening: she was becoming something never seen before, a "queen" goblin. She would therefore occupy the most important "position" in the clan.
