The creature appeared as some sort of polecat with a pair of feathery wings. Runid explained that he was quite intelligent, and had been named Toskur by his last owner, but that Red could rename him if she desired. It wasn't what she'd hoped for, but it was still an exciting opportunity! Over weeks, the wizard, called Havric, worked with the two of them to get them attuned to each other. Red found it a very strange and unsettlign thing to begin to sense the creature's mind and know that it could sense hers as well, but to have anyone or anything be somewhat attuned to what she wanted or thought, even if it was a winged ferret, was a huge relief. In time, Toskur came to learn how to perform tasks to her, which she could ask with her mind. He would fetch things, move things around, and, most importantly, using a system of colored blocks Havric had set up before leaving, he could communicate things with the servants. For example, getting out a blue block meant Red wanted to be taken outside, a red block meant she wanted to be scratched, and so on. It was still limited, but Runid assigned a servant to devote all his time to making it more complex so Red could communicate more, and soon, using new blocks with letters written on them, she was able to communicate short phrases when necessary. This all took several more months, and it was all well and good, exciting even, but she still sorely missed her old life and freedom. She still hated the limitations of this body and the spectacle of which she was made (the visitors loved watching Toskur at work).
