The merchant was called Runid, and he was a portly man with red cheeks and a thick black beard. He loaded Red into his opulent wagon, something which she resisted at first, until he waved something under her nose and she found herself growing very sleepy. By the time she woke up, she was fully the size she had been before - perhaps even bigger! Her head was jammed uncomfortably against the ceiling of the wagon, her neck already aching. She couldn't move at all except to wave around her armless hands and legless feet uselessly, and she immediately began to cry.
Runid was present, and informed her promptly, "I'm sure you've quite a few stories to tell, so I'll be on the lookout for a way to make you talk! Would you like that?" She was even given a bath every day, and though she shuddered to see what she could of her own unclothed body, she couldn't believe how wonderful it felt to be clean. Runid even had a few custom outfits made for her, at last getting rid of her impossibly stretched and juice-stained dress. There was no denying that her quality of life had improved substantially from when she'd first been berry-ified, but most aspects of this life were still humiliating and limiting, not the least of which being the fact that Runid was still selling the opportunity to gawk at her. Multiple times a week, visitors would be brought in and shown to her to observe whatever she was up to at the time of their arrival, regardless of what it was, and the servants would explain every element of her relatively simple existence to them. So, though she was glad to be in some ways quite comfortable, she continued to wait anxiously for news from Runid. She had been with Runid for a full year when, at last...
