His name was Herould, and Gigi's heart ached to see him - he'd grown up so much! But what was he doing here? He was shouting, he seemed so angry... She began to run to him, but Regon quickly turned around and snapped, "Gigi, go to your cage." She flinched back, and turned at once to retreat to the other end of the house.
There was no resisting the magic; she'd long given up on that. But if there had been any way at all, she would have strained until she burst. She crawled into the cage and lay down, resting her chin on her paws and whimpering quietly.
After several minutes,
-
Regon came in, holding a three-year-old male cocker spaniel. "Fortunately, he did not tell anyone where he was going, so this will not come back to me," he told Gigi. "Hopefully some companionship will improve your general mood."
-
Regon came in, and did not say anything at all, but only silently led Gigi back out to the main area...
-
Regon came in, and said, "Don't worry, I didn't hurt him, just calmed him down, wiped about an hour, and sent him back home."
-
Regon came in, escorting Herould. "There she is," he said to him.
-
Herould came in alone, blood on his hands. "Hey, girl," he said cautiously.
