Poor Fred! From the waist up she was a girl, but beneath her body gave way to the long and languid form of a common slug. She was only a few inches long and though she tried her hardest to move as fast as she could, it would take hours just to escape the wreckage of the tower. She quickly began to despair of ever returning to a normal life. Fortunately, before the day was out, she was found by

  1. some traveling adventurers who had been investigating the tower, in the hopes of quickly snatching up any valuables before the authorities could arrive.
  2. a nearby colony of fairies.
