Beware of Necromancers

"Necromancers are bad people," Fred echoed Astra's last statement. Yes, that certainly sounded right since it had been a necromancer who had cursed her. Though, the details were still vague. Beyond his name and profession, nothing else about him really came to mind.

"Very," Astra said with an emphatic nod. "By the way, what's the nature of this curse besides grey skin?"

Fred thought carefully. Countless blurred images crowded her mind, images of being in many forms. Big, small, male, female, old, young, animal, vegetable, even mineral! Of course, most prominent was living in a log as a roach. Again, however, she was sure she had been human originally. A different human. But how different? Squeezing her eyes shut, she shook her head. "Many, many curses. Too many."

Astra frowned. "That would explain why you were in this state."

"The poor thing," the other girl commented sympathetically. "That evil necromancer needs to be stopped."

"Right," Astra agreed. "Hannah, do you remember where this necromancer is located?"

Sadly, Fred had no clue.

"It's to be expected, I suppose," Astra sighed. "If you happen to remember anything, let us know. Meanwhile, I'll have our sorceresses scan the area for signs of necromancy and tell the others to be on the lookout."

Soon after, Fred's bath was finished. Climbing out of the tub, she dried herself off with the provided cloths with some help from the other two. Being clean actually felt nice, she found.

Then, she was helped into the borrowed clothes, a simple chemise and a loose dress with a belt to cinch the waist. Leather shoes shod her feet. Her long hair, reaching all the way down to her knees, had been left loose to dry.

"That's going to look lovely once it's brushed out," Astra complimented with a smile. "Grey skin aside, you're really quite beautiful, Hannah."

Fred blushed, though not entirely with pleasure. She knew the princess was trying to be encouraging, but it just seemed awkward. Was being beautiful good? Was it bad?

Suddenly, Fynia came running up. "Milady! Urgent news!"

1. Monsters are attacking the camp.
2. The dragon is attacking the town.
3. A necromancer has been spotted in the area.
4. Astra's mother, the queen, is calling for the warriors to return home.
5. The Allarian king is requesting help elsewhere.
