It was a nice enough place to spend a year or so. There were some predators, but To'og was a dedicated guard, scaring away any wolves or bears that dared draw near, until news had spread through all the beasts of the forests where the ogres' territory was. Gerkka wound up with a lot of time to herself, lumbering around slowly at their base camp, constructing crude structures and tools, eating idly, and waiting for To'og to return each evening with the day's haul. She had quite a lot of time to think, and the more she did, the more her mind wandered back in the direction of Sir Fred. Arahim had told her over and over that she wasn't him... but the more she thought, the more she returned to her uncertainty that he was right. All the same, though, it hardly mattered who she'd been; she was Gerkka now. Soon it became very difficult to move, and she stopped doing it much, instead remaining hidden rather than risking any harm to the baby while To'og was away.
