"As of now, you are a flight risk. Ivo's proposal is imminent, and even though you know you must, I cannot be sure you will say yes." He raised his hands, and his fingers began to dance, his magic floating across the room in waves and settling over the dreaming Hannah, who sighed softly in her sleep. Belboz continued to speak softly: "This guarantees that you shall remain out of my way. That you shall settle down in a comparatively simple and harmless life, and I shall never have to worry about you again. I may even stop checking on you—who knows. Perhaps just every once in a while, to keep up the façade. To make sure you continue to worry about pleasing me. Marry Ivo, Hannah. Become Hannah O'Farrell. Leave Frederigo behind, forevermore." When Hannah awoke the following morning, she felt different. Bland, almost—an enormous divergence from the fraught existence she had lived through for some time now. But when she thought of Ivo—and for no particular reason, mind—she suddenly blossomed into wonderment and joy. It was a reserved kind of joy, more of a quiet bliss, but it brought forth her lovely voice as she sang a lilting tune to herself while packing. Muriel noticed her daughter's happiness, and was glad to see it. Belboz, of course, commented on it. She smiled dreamily, and said, "I just can't wait to see Ivo again. I think I'm finally really able to see our future together..." She went back to school, and confessed to Jordana that she had made up her mind. Jordana was ecstatic to welcome her dear friend into the family, although she could not shriek with joy as she wanted to—the Lessing School for Girl was no place for such impropriety. And indeed, nowhere was. Hannah couldn't explain it. Everything had felt wrong, and she couldn't escape it. And many things still did, but not him. He was her anchor. He was all she needed to feel right. So she let go of her strange feelings about Sir Ricardo's missing friend. She let go of her misgivings surrounding getting married. She let go of feeling like a lady was not really what she was supposed to be. And she let go of her very last shred of doubt in Uncle Belboz. He had been right. He had been right about everything. Six months later, Ivo presented her with a beautiful ring, and she accepted it with a small smile which shined like the sun. And the preparations began. They were to be married in the winter. Belboz was heavily present and helpful as the preparations were underway; after all, it wasn't officially official until they said "I do." He couldn't very well duck out now. So he made sure Hannah would have a storybook wedding.
