Fortunately djinni don't get bored. Eventually both of their lamps were rubbed in quick succession. They both emerged, and said the standard rubric: "Your wish is my command, Master." But they were looking at their summoner in surprise, for it was not Fred.

"What happened to Lord Fred?" Astra asked.

"I'm afraid he had a nasty - um - accident. A fatal accident." From the speaker's manner, Astra and Maria formed the impression that Fred's death had been no accident. The speaker went on: "I am your Master now. I am:

  1. "Belboz the necromancer."
  2. "The dragon that the foolish knight was hoping to destroy. I know that I am in human form right now, but I am a weredragon, able to change between my two forms at will."
  3. "Sir Toby."
  4. "Rhiannon the sorceress."
  5. Velus.
