"Oh!" cried Prince Jasper, aghast, as Peltar stood still in distress as the guards glanced at one another in bewilderment. The likeness was unmistakable, and the hunk of carefully shaped detritus was clad in ordinary clothes, a fine dress and cloak which could very well have been taken out of Lilith's wardrobe. The statue's pose was rather simple, as if taking a small step forward. Jasper approached her slowly, his hand out, as everyone in the room sought words, but he pulled his hand back just short of touching the muddy mass, and spun towards Peltar, his eyes bright with anger. "Peltar! Explain this!" "I-I'm terribly sorry, my prince," stammered Peltar. "It seems that she was covered with enough natural debris that the magic became confused, and a... transmutation seems to have occurred." "Well, undo it at once!" Jasper blustered. "I will do my best, your highness," said Peltar, quite nervous. Jasper was generally mild-mannered, but he had quickly shifted to an almost manic energy after his betrothed's disappearance, and Peltar was ill at ease with the knowledge that he may not be able to please him. "Your best better be good enough! What's the prognosis?" Peltar sighed, rubbing the back of his head. "It's very hard to say. I will have to perform some tests, which will take some hours. I will have a better idea then, and will let you know post haste." "You'd best," said Jasper, and turned back to the statue. It was difficult to determine what expression his bride-to-be bore, but she was decidedly not smiling. He observed her mournfully for several minutes before finally taking his guards to let Peltar work. Peltar immediately began to set up his circles and sigils, get out his spellbooks and scrolls, and do everything else required to run his tests. He worked feverishly for some hours, and shortly after lunchtime, he had all the information he needed to determine what the path forward would likely look like.
