Fred was starting to feel guilty. Astra becoming a djinn had been an unfortunate accident, but should he really have had her enslave Maria? It did not sit well with his knightly oath to honour and protect women. Still, what was done was done, and it would be futile to worry about it now. He still had to carry out his quest of destroying the dragon, and had better return his attention to that.

He was about to leave the ancient market-place and resume his search for the dragon's lair, when he realised that there might be a much easier way. "Astra, Maria, I wish that the dragon was dead," he said.

  1. "Your wish is our command," they said in perfect unison.
  2. Astra and Maria looked an one another for a moment. Then Astra said: "I am sorry, Master, but that is beyond our power."
