Bounds of Reason

The food bearer said, "I suppose that how you get fed does not matter to our master." She turned her neck and asked the woman with the knife, "Does that sound reasonable?"

Fred heard a "Mmh-hmm" and the jingling of metal. She walked toward the jingle then walked back out with a small ring of keys. She then loosed Fred's right hand, and held the loaf in front of him. Fred tore a chunk of bread from the loaf and brought it to his mouth and chewed the bread. The chunk was good for three mouthfuls. She then offered Fred the gourd. Fred used his free hand to drink without spilling the water. Then she offered him the loaf again, and Fred ate another chunk. Astra remained silent throughout.

Fred declined a third helping of the loaf, with the remark, "That's enough. Here is my hand." The food bearer rebound Fred's right hand.

Fred now expected Astra to get her share of the food. He had hoped that perhaps their captors might also let her use one hand to eat.

1. Astra was indeed offered the food
2. But the two Dragazons turned back and started to walk back into the darkness.
3. The Dragazons were preparing to escort Astra to some other place.
