Fred Weighs Up His Options

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 117527

Fred found himself for a moment unsure of what to do. On the one hand, as a knight he was sworn to protect all women, who were still viewed in his homeland of Allaria as being the weaker sex, despite all evidence to the contrary. But these women were servants of the Dragon, the beast which he was on a quest to try to destroy. They were therefore surely his enemies and the enemies of the King to whom he had sworn allegiance. Coming to a decision, he turned and ran, leaving the surviving girls to take on the worm as best they could.

Before long, he found himself back where Princess Astra was shackled to the tunnel wall, and he slowed to a stop. She was evidently surprised to see him. "You managed to escape?" she said. "That must have taken some doing. Now perhaps you can free me from my chains."

  1. Conveniently, the key is hanging up on the opposite wall, put there by the Dragon to tantalise his prisoner.
  2. Fred still has his sword, and manages to cut through the chains.
  3. The cuffs securing Astra's wrists and ankles aren't actually locked. They didn't need to be, since she had no way of reaching them to release the catches that were holding them in place.
  4. Fred is unable to free Astra.
