By this time, all the pieces of Fred had been made into, ostensibly at least, fairly well-adjusted and well-rounded individuals. There were issues and holes, but they had largely been evened out, and in fact all were in various stages of courtship with Jane's brothers at this point, with Hannah and Orrin very close to becoming engaged.
