They quickly found the Green Candle, a modest little tavern and quite possibly the only one in the small town. The owner was a portly woman named Hildegard, and they made their offer to her. She said that something could be worked out for one but she certainly didn't need three. As a result the women came to find that they'd have to stay a couple weeks here for one person to work enough to clothe all three of them, much less feed them for any length of time. They decided Isabella was best suited to work at the tavern, while Katrina and Ermentrude tried to find work elsewhere. But conventional work, as it turned out, was hard to come by in this small town.
