The women were all weeping, feeling yet more incomplete and inconsolable than before. They were beginning to despair of ever being restored and whole again. Pierre kept rowing, being just barely too gentlemanly to ask ladies to do work like this, though the thought crossed his mind with increasing frequency as time passed. Eventually the three sisters fell asleep. The boat reaching land was what woke them some hours later. They had arrived at the kingdom of Aqualaria. The three sisters did not quite put it together with their diminished capacity to reason, but Pierre reasoned to them, "Since the captain has lost the three of you he may elect to send for ransom for your sister instead of marrying her. You should go home and wait to be contacted." The three realized this was indeed a possibility and thanked Pierre for his encouragement and help.
