The sisters all screamed, Marigold included, as the boat descended to the water. As soon as they were down Pierre was rowing with all his might, but the three women in the rowboat screamed, "Marigold!"

Pierre kept his head down, his arms working hard, not bothering to tell them there was no feasible way to save their sister now.
