Belboz was almost frantic. He was pretty sure he knew when this had happened - when he'd been trying to assemble the necessary items to perform that protective spell six long years before. He'd been at Arius's to deliver a message - though now he couldn't for the life of him remember what that message had been, whom it had been from, or why he was the one delivering it - and then when he'd come back just a few days later to try to break in and steal his Malbonctish cauldron, his security had been impenetrable.

Belboz never did manage to cast that spell, and the dragon's reign of terror still continued even now. The castle of Embron and Jastina still remained untouched, but much of Allaria had been reduced to ash. And now Belboz knew why he had been unable to prevent that. Arius had hexed him and taken that unfortunate knight to parts unknown. Perhaps he'd restored him, but it was also possible that he was still but a little girl!

  1. Belboz got to work assembling a graft of Fred according to the magical records taken automatically by his workroom, where Fred had been transformed. This would take only a few days, and then he could cast a locating spell.
  2. Belboz decided he had to go to Arius's household and see if he could collect clues there. If necessary, he may simply have to confront Arius. But first, he'd need a way inside.
  3. Belboz hadn't the slightest idea of how to find Fred, especially without knowing what form he was in. Thinking the job was worthy of their attention, he contacted the High Council of Sorcerers of Allaria.
