When Hannendine—or Hannen, for short—woke up, she was disoriented at first, as could be expected. But Arius quickly got her smiling and laughing, and it was clear that the flowers had been completely effective. He couldn't have her sticking around long enough to allow himself to get attached to her, though. So he informed her that, in one week's time, she was to be sent to the castle of King Embron and Queen Jastina to help in the kitchens. Arius's plans were simple. Hannendine was now his loyal daughter, willing to do whatever he asked of her, as long as it did not go against her honorable (startlingly so for a young child) nature. The king and queen had a seven-year-old son named Theocharistus (Theo for short, naturally). Hannendine was a beautiful child, and Arius knew it might take a small spell or potion, but she would be wed to the prince one day. And from there, it might sometimes take a bit of careful manipulation, but through his daughter the queen, Arius would rule over all of Allaria. Hannendine was sad to say goodbye to her father and sister, but she was also delighted to do her father's bidding and serve her country in the process (as Fred's loyalty to the crown had been maintained even through the spells placed on him). Hannendine arrived at the castle one week later and was immediately escorted to the kitchens. She was only six and couldn't do much yet, but washing dishes wasn't difficult, and that was easily a full-time job. A few weeks passed. Hannendine...
