The flowers were very carefully and specially enchanted to be attuned to whatever Arius wanted at any given time, and had the ability to implant any delusion into the mind of someone who smelled them. Arius had sensed in this little girl a greater intellect, strength, and tenacity than he had in any child his whole life, and that was something that could be put to great use. He watched as the girl gagged and reeled. She began to fall backwards, but he caught her up into his arms, holding her as her mind was reformed, parts of her identity hiding themselves to accommodate for the identity he was imposing on her—that of his loyal, loving, obedient daughter. The only problem was that she was actually Belboz's daughter, and he was still here. Arius would have to enchant him to forget he had a daughter at all. He leaned down, picked two flowers, and vanished into thin air along with Hannah. She was exhausted after her coughing fit and fell into a deep sleep. He tucked her into her new bed and presently vanished again to find Belboz, who was looking around the gardens for Hannah. One sniff of the flower led him to believe he was just here to deliver a message, and after a long bout of coughing himself, he went home, leaving Hannah behind—although "Hannah" was far too plain a name for a sorcerer's daughter. He was thinking of adjusting it to "Hannendine" or something like that. Arius used the third flower to make Marcelina, his real daughter, believe she had a sister, and his work was done. Hannah, for her part, would remember nothing specific of her life as Fred. The belief that she was this man's daughter had overpowered any possibility of memory of that life remaining. But she would still retain all empirical knowledge that he'd had. She'd be able to swordfight, to conduct herself at formal events (albeit as a man), to write calligraphy, and to perform many other skills and tasks that girls of her age simply could not perform, but she wouldn't know where any of this knowledge had come from. And Arius, for his, had such plans for this girl... If all went well,
