Dalamar hadn't exactly done this on purpose. Fey magic was a very hard thing to understand. All he knew was that he'd been very frustrated by the escape of one of his fairies - even though he'd quite forgotten he had them - and when he'd started poking and prodding at the one he still had after awakening her, she'd turned into something completely different. She was nearly twice the size she had been, now standing at about five inches [18251], with deeply wrinkled greenish skin, a bulbous head, and a long sharp nose, teeth, ears, and fingernails. Her huge black eyes constantly squinted in the light, and seemed to prefer total darkness. She was constantly rubbing her long, spindly limbs, and her potbelly shook when she moved. Her beautiful singsong voice was gone, and now she spoke only in scratchy, raspy grunts and growls. Dalamar had clothed her in a tiny coarse tunic-like piece he'd fashioned out of a scrap of a potato sack, as her gossamer dress had been torn by the transformation, and absolutely did not suit her anymore. But he was fascinated by the change, and had made her into his number one project, moving her into his private study. He'd spent most of his time over the last week studying her and observing her behavior.
