"There is a sorceress called Jeppeline who may be able to help you, and the road to her home is not so long, but she always demands hefty payment for her favors," Fred was told.
"Oh," Fred said. "I have almost no money." "I heard that her housekeeper left recently. Perhaps she would agree that you could work for her for a while in lieu of payment?" "Thank you for the suggestion. But why would a sorceress need a housekeeper? Couldn't she just do all the chores by using magic?" The man shrugged. "I don't know. Perhaps she just gets lonely and it's an excuse to have some company... So do you want directions to her house or not?" "Yes, please." The man gave her the directions and she set out on the journey, which she thought would take her an hour or so. As she walked, she considered a problem that she had rather ignored until now. How was she going to tell this Jeppeline about the enchantments that she was under, when one of those enchantments prevented her from telling anyone about them? She supposed that she would have to hope that Jeppeline's magical sense would be acute enough to detect and identify the spells that she was under without needing to be told about them.
