Freda watched in curiosity as the tiny glowing thing that had been one of her new friends curled up into a tiny ball in his sister's hand. He now stood at no more than four inches tall.

The spectacle put the entire market on hold for a while, and the trio was sent to talk to a group of the most powerful magic users present. After they examined Gabriel, they told the group,

  1. "This is very strange magic, of a sort with which none of us are familiar. We cannot help you."
  2. "He is now a true fairy, which means none but fey magic can affect him. Only other fairies may have hope of changing him back, but convincing them will be very difficult."
  3. "We may be able to restore him, but we will need some ingredients that we do not have here."
  4. "We can make an attempt now to restore him, but cannot guarantee success."
