"Gabriel!" Mara shouted, fishing desperately around the clothes. Sympathetic and horrified-looking onlookers had gathered, and a few ran off when the stall vanished, presumably to try to track the merchant.

Eventually Mara withdrew her hand, which contained the tiny, naked, winged, faintly glowing form of her brother. "Gabriel!" she cried again. "Are you all right?"

  1. "I feel really strange, Mara," he whined, clutching at his chest. He was feeling the spark of fey magic burning newly within him.
  2. He beat his wings, rising into the air. "Never better!" he cried. "This is amazing!"
  3. "Gabriel?" he asked. "My name is Hefeydd. Unhand me immediately."
