Crazier than I thought

"I'm not one to judge. Trust me." Edgar studies Stacy carefully. She is still an unknown quantity. Could he take what she said at face value or was there more to this. Is she trying to play him? She wears a grey business suit, jacket, knee length skirt and white shirt. She looks like she is in her late twenties but it is hard to be sure. Anyone under the age of 35 looks young to him these days. Is she just another New York yuppie? Or was that what he was meant to think?

"I just couldn't stay. It was too much to bear." Stacy rubs away a tear and runs her her hangs through her curly hair. "Does that make any sense?"

"In a way, yes it does. After all, if she's dead what can you do? It's how you treat someone when their alive that matters, right?"

"But that's the other thing," says Stacy. "I don't even know how I treated her in life. I seem to have no memory of anything even her."

Edgar frowned. "Are you sure she's your mother."

"Yes! I mean no. I mean I don't know." Stacy stands up, her hand on her forehead. "I know she's my mother. I just know. There are images, nothing clear, just images."

"Hey, I believe you," says Edgar. "If you're going to remember anything it's going to be your own mother."

Stacy breathes out with exasperation. "Look, can I just have a shower? I just need to gather my thoughts."

"Sure. Knock yourself out. I mean not literally, obviously. I mean go ahead."

Stacy goes into the bathroom and Edgar went over to the window and looks out over the New York skyline. She's crazier than I thought. He hears her undressing in the next room and then the low rumble of the shower running. He's pretty sure she didn't even lock the door.

1. Edgar checks on Stacy
2. Edgar decides to leave her to it and goes for a walk
3. Edgar gets a few minutes shut-eye
