Freda was horrified as she took in her situation, and even more so as she realized what a trial it was just to think. All she wanted to do was eat, really. Vycynth left her outside, in a grassy area enclosed by a tall stone wall. She spent about six hours every day just eating, and eight hours chewing her cud - the latter of which was, by the way, disgusting, but the former knight found herself doing it instinctively. Only about four hours were spent sleeping each night. And Vycynth milked her daily, but that took only a few minutes. This left a solid six hours every day when she was doing absolutely nothing, and yet she could not think of a single way to get out of this. Sometimes she tried mooing incessantly at the wizard, who she was certain could help her, he just didn't feel like it. If only she could talk to him, maybe offer something to bargain. But the noise she made was invariably met with some cruel spell. The first few were quick electric shocks, but soon Vycynth remedied the problem entirely by taking away her ability to generate any sort of sound. So she'd try inconveniencing him in other ways - kicking over the milk bucket, running around trying to dodge his immobility spells, kicking him when she could manage it. From there on, he didn't respond by taking away her ability to choose, but he was cruel. He'd take away her ability to sleep, or kill all the grass in her enclosure, leaving her feeling like she was about to starve mere hours later. Sometimes he'd temporarily infect her with bovine illnesses such as blackleg and foot rot, always extremely intense and unpleasant if not downright painful. Sometimes she forgot why she was doing this, and went days without thinking about anything, just docilely letting the wizard milk her. Then she'd remember, and wish she hadn't. He always left her mind alone. She supposed he knew that that was the cruelest. She didn't know how long she'd been like this. It was impossible to track the passage of time. But eventually,
