Locked up

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 113332

The prison consisted of little more than a room carved out of the rock with a set of bars bolted into the floor with one section on hinges, secured with a primitive but effective mechanical lock.

Darian Kester was already in the cell when Stacy and Astra were thrown in.

"I do appreciate your rescue attempt," said Kester. "If it's any consolation I owe you one." He spoke with a rather flat tone, sounding almost robotic in a way that reminded Stacy of Zen.

"No trouble at all," said Astra. "Anything for man in trouble."

"I'll give you ten out of ten for bravery," said Kester. "And the same again for stupidity."

"Charming," said Stacy. "I wonder why they wanted to lock you up."

"We haven't been formally introduced. I'm Darian Kester."

"Pleased to meet you Mr Kester," said Stacy. "This is Astra and I'm Stacy."

Kester leaned against the bars and glanced out down the corridor. "And what brought you to this side of town?" He looked up and down at Stacy in her tight see-through vest and Astra in her open-backed body suit. "We're a long way from 5th Avenue. Or Oxford Street."

"I've got a ship," said Astra. "We just need to get our bracelets back."

"Because they complete your outfit?" said Kester sardonically.

"Because then I can call my ship," said Astra firmly. "Then I can blast these motherfuckers to dust."

"Just like we should have done before," said Stacy. "Sorry, Astra. Sorry for stopping you."

Kester looked at Astra then at Stacy. "Well, I thank you for not having done that. I guess that's two I owe you."

Astra paced up and down in the cell, muttering to herself. "Those fuckers."

Stacy thought about how those pirates had touched them. Violated them. "They'll pay," said Stacy. "When I think about what they did..."

"I know!" said Astra. "They took my weapons! Those pistols were really special!"

"The guns? I wasn't thinking of them," said Stacy.

"I know. They have no sense of decency." Astra threw her arms around Stacy. "They took out awesome, stylish jackets. No sense of decency at all."

"So who do you work for?" asked Kester. "The Solidarity?"

"No," said Astra. "We don't work for anyone. Let's just say we're independents."

"Okay good. I'm not on the best of terms with the Solidarity. So, if you get you bracelets back then you can contact your ship," said Kester.

Astra turned to him. "If they work. They are supposed to be able to communicate with the ship."

"But it didn't work," said Stacy.

"There is a radio jammer in operation," said Kester. We'll need to knock that out first."

"Well, we can't do anything," said Stacy. "We're locked in here."

"Leave that to me," said Kester. "I have a plan."
